budget-decorating

I always get excited whenever we decide to redo our home. But how do I plan my spending limit?

It is simple. You need to decide which room should look the best after a home decoration job. Now list the rooms in a descending order of importance. For example, I want my living room to be the best followed by my bedroom and so on. Once you are sure with this, it is easy to allocate funds for each room.

In my case, the highest expenses would be for the living room and the lowest would be for the guest bedroom, since it is not used often.

In these times of slowdown, it is important that we save money. That does not mean you should not decorate your house at all.

If you have the ability in your back pocket, you must go for it. But will the interior decorator understand your preferences? It is YOUR home and you are the best person to tell what your requirements are. Making a ‘To-Do’ list of the improvement needed is indeed helpful. The Internet is the best resource for finding about decoration materials and ideas but your effort is needed.

All the hard work you do for your dream home is bound to pay off!

So you have decided to decorate your home with the help of an interior designer, great! There are lots of them around who are trained to decorate homes and offices and other spaces.

Before you actually approach a decorator, make a list of all the changes that YOU want in your house. This includes urgent changes such as replacing the old electric wiring and other requirements for making the most of the available space. Once you are clear with this list, you can communicate the same with the interior decorator.

This will ensure a smooth flow of ideas between the two of you and result in something amazing!

Doors connect one room to the other or lead you into the corridor of your house. Unlike bedrooms or living rooms, where you need thick fabric curtains for ensuring privacy, a door curtain can be experimented with a little.

Shear curtains that are transparent and flowing are a good option for doors. It makes the room look elegant and adds a pleasant touch to it. This way you create a relaxed atmosphere in the adjoining room too. You can also go for embroidered curtains or self-print fabrics for making your interior décor look élan.

Any other door curtain tips that I need to include?

If you love partying and enjoying with friends on weekends a home bar is something that must be a part of your house. Decide upon some theme for your bar and then go ahead with the rest. You need to take care of the seating while decorating your in-house bar.

Make sure that the bar stools that you place near the bar are comfortable enough. You can also include lounge chairs wrapped in bright colored fabrics or zebra print to make it glamorous. If you have some more space do add some extra seating arrangements in some other part of the room.

When you are someone who loves reading and don’t know where to keep all those books at home, it can really be a problem.

Have you tried multipurpose furniture while decorating your home? For instance, you can buy bookshelves or book cabinets with or without doors that can be used as a library or an entertainment center or even in your home office for storing important documents.

So basically you can make use of it as you like. These units provide convenience and ease in operation. Moreover, they don’t take up more space and hold all your books safely too.

Make Your Kitchen Attractive

Posted by Shue under Kitchen

I have many friends who love cooking just like me. This leads to being in the kitchen for quite some time. If we are short of space in the kitchen it can be cumbersome to work there.

To make my ‘workplace’ attractive, I had a ‘food’ theme in mind while decorating it. I brought fork and spoon designed handles for the cabinets, a wall clock made using a griddle and fridge magnets that looked like vegetables and fruits. I also brought this theme into the tiles for the kitchen.

It took me quite some effort to hunt for such decorating items, but it was worth it for sure!

A powder room is basically the bathroom in our house. It is probably the smallest room having the highest traffic! It is necessary to decorate it with some planning so that visiting it can be a pleasurable experience.

You can place a bathroom storage unit under the washbasin to store the daily toilet supplies such as washing powder or toilet acid and cleaning materials. If there is still some space left, use it to stock up on your bathing soaps, talcum powder and hand towels etc.

This way your powder room will look organized and you can find everything in one place!
